Simon's Talk at the WI Women’s Institute in Redland

Simon demonstrating CPR and Defibrillator usage
Simon with the WI in Redland

Last week, Simon had the pleasure of speaking at the WI Women’s Institute meeting at The Guide Hall in Redland. It was an informative and engaging evening, with 20 ladies in attendance, many of whom had never before encountered the life-saving work we’re doing across Bristol.

Simon spoke passionately about Defibs4Bristol’s mission to install defibrillators throughout the city, making them easily accessible in case of emergencies. One of the key topics of the evening was ‘The Circuit’ - the centralised national database of defibrillators, which is used by 999 operators to guide the public to the nearest available device. The women were particularly surprised to learn how the system works and how critical it is to keep defibrillators regularly maintained to ensure they are always ready for use.

Following the talk, Simon took a moment to demonstrate basic CPR techniques and explain how a defibrillator is used. This hands-on approach helped the group gain a better understanding of how crucial these devices are in saving lives, as well as the simplicity of using them during an emergency.

Simon was delighted to have received generous donations from the group, which will go a long way in supporting our ongoing work. The engagement and support from the WI Women’s Institute is truly appreciated, and Simon looks forward to collaborating with them again in the future as we continue our mission to make Bristol a safer city for everyone.

Thank you to the WI for your hospitality, your interest, and your generosity!
