At Defibs4Bristol, we are continually amazed by the generosity of local people who choose to support our work. Recently, the team at BKW CrossFit in Speedwell did exactly that – and their efforts will help save lives across Bristol.
After getting in touch with Defibs4Bristol about installing a defibrillator at their gym, members of BKW CrossFit took on a marathon fundraising challenge to support the project.
The response was incredible. Not only did the gym successfully fund its own defibrillator, but members raised far more than originally anticipated.
In an extremely generous gesture, BKW CrossFit donated a further £2,500 to Defibs4Bristol. Those funds will now help support the installation of two additional defibrillators elsewhere in Bristol, extending the impact of their fundraising far beyond the walls of the gym.
As part of the project, Defibs4Bristol founder Simon Brookes recently visited BKW CrossFit to provide CPR and defibrillator awareness training. Members had the opportunity to practise lifesaving skills, learn how to recognise a cardiac arrest, and gain confidence using a defibrillator.
While we hope nobody ever needs to use these skills, knowing what to do in those critical first few minutes can make all the difference.
We would like to thank Raquel, the coaches, members, and everyone involved at BKW CrossFit for their incredible fundraising efforts and warm welcome.
Thank you, BKW CrossFit.
