We’re pleased to announce the installation of our 48th defibrillator at R. Davies & Sons Funeral Directors on Gilda Parade in Whitchurch. This new installation adds a vital resource to the local community.
The story of this installation began with Theresa Damsell, introduced to Simon by Councillor Graham Morris. After the tragic loss of her husband to cardiac arrest, Theresa was determined to make a difference by funding a defibrillator in his memory. Simon shared the defibrillator options available through a government grant he had secured, and he was able to source a defibrillator at a significantly reduced cost. Theresa was pleasantly surprised by the affordability, which allowed her to consider purchasing multiple units, expanding the impact of her efforts.
Theresa took the lead in arranging the installation herself, and Simon guided her through the defibrillator’s operation and its registration on The Circuit, the national defibrillator database. With this registration, the defibrillator is now fully live on the 999 system, ensuring it can be located and accessed in an emergency.
We congratulate Theresa and are proud to have worked with her. Her dedication and foresight made this project possible, and we also extend our thanks to Councillor Graham Morris for facilitating this valuable connection. This installation is a testament to the positive impact that personal commitment can bring to a community and stands as a lasting tribute to Theresa’s late husband.
